Hi fellow puzzle lovers and welcome to another weekly blog post. This week, we are talking about a topic that I am personally not a fan of participating in, but know plenty of puzzle lovers that enjoy the rush of speed puzzling. For those that aren’t familiar with speed puzzling, it’s a way (by practicing) to increase your completion time for speed puzzling events and can even help you get puzzles done faster at home. While speed puzzling is fun for some people, there are people, like myself, that enjoy taking their time completing puzzles and want to spend just a little more time immersing themselves in the fun of doing each puzzle.
Like many of life’s daily tasks, I enjoy taking my time completing my to-do list, as well as, the puzzles I have in my to do (which is fairly big currently) pile. I have and never will be one that likes to be rushed or pushed to complete a task on my to-do list, i prefer to take my time and know that whatever I don’t get done today can be done tomorrow and that goes for puzzles too. For me, puzzling is about enjoying the current puzzle you’re working on and staying in the present moment while focused on that puzzle, not trying to see if you can be the best speed puzzler and beat other competitors scores.
Puzzling is my favorite way to relax and unwind at the end of a long day, as it helps me to calm my mind and get ready for bed. I find that instead of scrolling through my phone screen or watching tv right before bed, my favorite bedtime activity is to work on a puzzle for a little bit and that helps me to achieve more deep, restful sleep. It’s important to remember at the end of a busy day to do something you enjoy that also relaxes your mind and body and that’s why puzzling is great to do at the end of the day, it helps us unwind.
What are your thoughts on speed puzzling and being timed while working on a puzzle? Do you enjoy speed puzzling, or are you like me and prefer to take your time? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
